Anyone Buy Intercooler Silicone Hoses?

Just spent an hour and gave up, it was 5pm though so i have to wait to monday for send theses parts back. pain in the ass and a waste of money. They really fit very very poorly.

I purchased mine from IPD (S70 T5-M) and I had a very long hose to connect to the IAC. Please go to the IPD ad and check out the instructions, which may help you.

I don't have an explanation for this, but I installed the Samco Hoses and they didn't seem to want to go on at first but after a bit of wiggling they all popped right on and I don't remember much of a problem. I do remember thinking (while trying to push them on) "this thing is really tight it doesn't want to fit. how am I gonna strecth it... oh wait it just popped on". I did use some silicon spray and maybe rotated a bit while wiggling/pushing.

I bought the affordable ones from FCP as well and have never had a tougher challenge on my S70. I've been able to get them on using extreme force, assembly grease, and a small flathead screwdriver to pry open and over the edge of the hose. It looks like there is no way they will fit, but they've all gone on so far. I only have the last pipe over the motor to put on.

I think i would chose the expensive ones next time if I could avoid the misery these 'affordable' ones have caused!

I bought the Samco kit a while ago, and then spent about a day in the sun trying to get the hoses to fit.
These hoses all seem to have the correct measurments, but they are a PITA to get on, since they're way more sturdy than OEM, and won't expand in the same way - that's why we buy these in first place, right?

After a lot of cursing and sweating, these hoses all "popped" on, as a previous poster said, but two of the hoses had to be "encouraged" with a thin blade, inserted between the pipe and the hose and moved around the edge in the direction away from the sharp edge of the blade. It solved my trouble with getting the hoses on, and it seemed to me that the hoses were much more cooperative the second time around, after I had to remove one since I forgot to put the clamp on first...

The hoses fit, people - at least the Samco ones do. They behave the way they do because they're actually just the way we want them to be, i.e. they're tough and won't expand unless you really force them to.

I bought a set of the regular hoses from FCP 2 years ago. It was quite a task to get them on. I used silicone spray and LOTS of elbow grease! and I bashed my knuckles more than once! The hose to the bottom of the inter cooler (fixed to the hard pipe) seems to have a bit of a "crimp" in it but overall was pretty happy with them.. more than likely a supplier making silicone hoses already has made the regular hoses and has just made a batch using colored silicone instead.
as mentioned I used silicone spray and had to wedge them on at an angle to get them on...but they worked. and they were a huge improvement over the factory squishy ones which which should have been replaced long ago.

I have had silicone hose issues with rad hoses and turbo hoses on other vehicles too.
I use an appropriate sized bottle and silicone and force the hose onto bottle to stretch it just before I install it. That makes the task FAR easier. Be careful and use lots of silicone lube as you don't want to break a glass jar or bottle doing this and cut yourself.

On edit: I haven't done this but I would think one of those long funnels might provide a safer hose stretcher form instad of glass jars.

Judging from what I've seen so far, I'm goin' for it. FCP hoses.

I assume the biggest problem area is the IAC connections (fingers crossed), and if that is the big hang up, I'll do my best.

I just can't fathom using the OEM replacements for a $10 difference.

So what if it takes a couple hours.

I just installed the set from STYLINMOTORS.COM, all blue & they went on my '96 850 & '01 V70 like a charm. I also purchased the set of different size hosing, vacuum hoses, etc & it looks great. After replacing them, I took my 850 for a spin, and YES , it's amazing what tight hoses will do to pep it up a bit !
