I can't shift my 05 S80 T6 out of park. The button on the front side of the shifter won't depress as far as it normally will. This happened about a month ago and I was able to get it working after fiddling with it for a minute or two. I can feel and hear something clicking in the shifter when I press and release the brake pedal.
Does anyone have a disassembly procedure for the center console?

Bill,
Thanks, this is excellent. Do you have any ideas about how to get the gear shift to shift out Park once I can get to it? It's parked in my garage, front towards the inside wall, so I can't get it towed to the shop until I can get in into neutral. I would hate to have the tow truck driver try to drag it out of the garage with the tranny stuck in park.

If you tell the tow company your placement. They may come up with a solution. I cannot believe that you are the first one ever to have this problem.
Thanks for the help. I was able to get the shifter to move by removing the button, which gave access to the rod that releases the shift detent. The dealer replaced the shift handle for $100 in parts and 1/2 hour of labor. Pretty fair, I thought.
