You might want to check the latest at http://vexedvolvo.org. I posted Volvo TNN 25-149A which is the troubleshooting document. It lists the hoops that dealers have to jump through before replacing the ETM.
It is interesting reading as it lists the failure that causes each diagnostic code to be set. It gives the combinations of trouble codes and the fault tracing to follow. It lists the various types of 'limp home' failure.
If you do have the problem and the dealer wants to change air mass meters, O2 sensors or other, ask them what codes they find and check out the fault tracing in the Troubleshooting document TNN 25-149A.
We now have VEXED correspondents in 16 countries, Saudi Arabia checked in this week end.
I have not heard of any 'letters' being received yet. Has anyone received the letter to submit for refund of money spent on repairs? Someone asked if independent repairs are covered? I do not see any exception but I'll be interested when someone tries it and gets a positive or negative response. I'm checking with CARB on this.

I recently called the customer service line to inquire about reimbursement. They gave me a Memphis, TN address and told me to mail it in, when I asked about reimbursement for the ETM he was well aware of the problem and quickly gave me the address for reimbursements. My repair was done by an independent mechanic, but it stated on my receipt that the car was towed to volvo for flashing. I sent the letter about two weeks ago, they stated that it would take 4-6 weeks for a respone. We'll see what happens in about another month.

I called them a week or two ago, and they told me that the mailings STARTED in mid-Dec-'05 and that they were staggering them so as not to get buried with rebate requests all at once.
So, IF NOBODY has received their letters 45 days after the ALLEGED mailing started, I can only assume that the Post Office went out of business, or ....
... the lying bastards over at Volvo are ONCE AGAIN being deceitful, lying thru their teeth, dragging their feet and screwing the customers that believed the Volvo name stood for Integrity.
