98 S70, Electric Rear Door lock assembly

Post by Scrib76 »

I'm currently having trouble with the rear electric door lock. It'll lock electronically, but it will not unlock. I assume it could be the lock actuator, but hope it could be something a little more simpler that that.
Does anyone out there have the door lock assembly layout or instructions on how to get to the actuator?
Much appreciated!
Scribellito, remember the name.

As you can see from my post, I'm in the same shape. Good luck!

If everything else works;
Door can be opened from both handles
It either opens or closes the other way from the lock switch or remote
You need a new (or used) lock assy. Simple as that

Repairing it is a real PITA, its easier to replace it. See if you can bag a used one off eBay or a breaker yard. Theres a small red plastic nub in the mechanism that gets broken if someone tries to open the door handle at the wrong time. Ie when you are unlocking it! The good news is that its not really a wear item perse, so a used unit will work just fine, provided someone hasnt snapped the red nub yet!
