Volvo 240 wiring to radio

Post by Adrian »

Can anyone help.? I have a volvo 240 gl 1990 automatic. the radio/cassette player is a volvo td603 (which now leaves a lot to be desired).

I have purchased a Soundmax radio cd player. However, I have been unable to purchase the adaptor leads from the loom to the new player. halford's do not have a record on their system of the TD 603 and could only obtain a left hand drive upper dash mount panel - a fat lot of good for a right hand drive car in the UK.

Does anyone know the wiring colour codes on the loom and the respective functions so that I can avoid trial and error.

I found answers to some of my earlier problems of Dec. 03 (in earlier posts on this site)re: overdrive ie relay behind dash and solenoid valve on box. I have replace the relay from my 240glt auto (breaking) but am unable to remove the solenoid valve. (purchased a second hand one but have been advised by local garage, who were carry out work for MOT,the part was incorrect- do not intened purchasing new at

Hi, I will give you the colours for a two speaker system. In origin it was just speakers in the front doors. If you have four speakers, the can easily be found buy using a 1,5 volt battery connected to the speaker wires. Then you can hear some scratcing sound from the speaker you have found.

SB = ground, GN = const feeding, BL = batt +, R= motor antenna feeding,

BL-W = left speaker+, w= left speaker- ( after connector the colour will be Y-W and W),

BL-W = right speaker+, W= right speaker- ( after connector the colour will be Y-GR and GR).

In four speaker cars it is added an extra unit to the radio and to that unit the speakers are connected.
