bald tires and transmission
Is there any connection between bald tires (no tread left on rear), and transmission slippage? The car is out of alignment and I have to drive it. Now the transmission has started slipping. The front tires are in okay condition. I put the bald ones on the back for safety two months ago. The trans fluid is okay.

It is actually much safer to have your best tires in the back.

And there is no link between bad tires and transmission slipping. You just have worn tires, and a bad alignment will just aggravate that issue.
As for your transmission, you may want to do a few drain and fills on it to get some new fluid in there. How is the current fluid? Black? Smell burned?

The fluid is darker then it should be and it does not smell like trans fluid anymore. Thanks for letting me know about the tire situation. I was afraid of a front blow-out. The car being out of alignment is what chewed up the tires to begin with. btw emerald green is my favorite color. And my car only has approx. 75K miles on it. Seems kind of early for the trans to go.

It is early for the transmission to go.
Change the fluid out - 3 qts at a time through the drain plug at the bottom of the transmission - and repeat 3 times after a week or two. You may yet save it.
Get an alignment! Much cheaper than new tires. Theyre gonna be $325 just for two for me
