J-tube replacement

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

J-tube replacement

Post by stevedud »

I'm looking for some tips on how to replace the J-tube. I got the CEL P0442 and thanks to this forum, found that the J-tube had a crack. I tried for an hour to remove it but no good. Can someone provide some hints on how to remove it.

Also, if someone had it done by the dealer, how much did they charge.

Thanks

I replaced mine including the other hose. For my S70, I removed the fuel filter bracket, and pushed the fuel filter (towaards the rear) to get access to the two hoses. The hardest and time consuming for me was, removing the factory clamps, the two hoses were simple to pull out and replaced. For your S80, not sure what clamps Volvo decided to use, but mine were the good ol fashion clamps (like the old sardine can with key). Jack the car up a little (enough that you have room to operate) with both tires still touching the ground. You can do this with determination. I just replaced both hoses so I don't have to repeat the process again any time soon. Also, I ordered a new fuel filler cap (Volvo) for good measure from IPD.
