S80 1999 Air conditioning

Just bought a used S80 with 198,000 miles. The air conditioning will be working fine and then all of a sudden stop working. If I shut the car off for a few minutes and then restart the air conditioning starts working again. Any ideas of what the problem is? It does have the "auto" feature and dual setting controls. Thanks in advance to anyone able to help.

More than likely it's the compressor clutch. Start here:
