15-50 is a tad thick for conditions here. I don't know how cold it gets down there, but I'd go to a synthetic 10w-40 at least. I run a synthetic 5w-40 year around with temps. ranging from single digits (nearing -15

5W-30 here with Mobil-1 Synthetic changed every 5K miles. When it gets warmer I switch to 10W-30 or 10W-40 with the same synthetic oil. I would change sooner but almost all of my miles are highway and I drive over 100 miles every day.

If you don't want to go with a synth and live in a warm climate, try Chevron Delo 400 or Rotella 15W40. Delo has a great additives package.

5w-30 Mobil 1 at every 5000 miles. I also use the NAPA (Wix) filter. I am at 125,000 miles now.

I use the 5w-30 Mobil in my wife's 05 Lexus and my 99 F150. Mobil 15W-50 in the 89 944 Turbo, 96 Harley Sportster, and I will switch over to it on the 06 Harley ElectraGlide when it hits 5000 miles next month.

The important thing about oil is to change it and the filter before the oil loads up with impurities or breaks down. I am probably changing the oil too soon on most of my cars but I rather error on too soon than not often enough. I also will pull an oil sample about once a year to have analyzed - caught the turbo in the 944 before it disintegrated on me.

thank u.

ops..Shell 15W-50, im using a thick oil. malaysia's climate is pretty hot...average 30-34 celcius. can reach 36 celcius sometime.
i'll shift to 5W-40 for next oil change. but haven't decide on which brands. any suggestion?

is Esso Ultron SL is good synthetic?
BP Visco 5000 synthetic also in my list.
all above are 5W-40 viscosity.

top range Mobil 1 is expensive here.

Check the specifications of the available oil against the service manual. The synthetic should meet or exceed the requirements. The oils in your area are a bit different than what we are used to in the states. All synthetics in the states that meet the viscosity ratings exceed the OEM requirements for the additive packages.

I may be wrong but I believe that Esso in Asia is the same as Mobil here in the States.

madeinjapan..

since Esso and Mobil come from Exxonmobil, i think both oil have same quality and performance.

but overhere, Esso Ultron syn much cheaper than Mobil 1 syn . i think this is Exxon marketing strategy. to say that esso has lower quality, so far never heard any negative comments about the esso oil. esso has less aggrasive marketing advertising, in other hand, mobil marketing target is for upper level cars.
