Driver-side Rear Window Regulator Replacement

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Driver-side Rear Window Regulator Replacement

Post by diverrobb »

I need to replace my driver-side rear window regulator. Can anyone offer some advice or VADIS pictures? I see plenty on front window info on sites, but cannot find for the rear. Already have the panel off and rivets drilled out (not sure if all of them though).

Thank you! This is perfect. I never would have thought of the rivets on the window retainer, and was scratching my head on that. These guys certainly couldn't make things easy with screws, bolts and nuts.

Do you know how critical it is to use "volvo" rivets over something I can get locally?

Sheets helped immensely...knocked it all out in about 2 hours, only because those are some tough rivets and needed to sharpen my drill a few times. Thanks so much!!!

A thank you to dcarlson12 for posting the files from VADIS, it helped me replace my left rear regulator. Drill out four rivets, and unbolted one nut to remove broken one. To replace, I bought the rivets from volvo but couldn't put them in with my 12" rivet gun. Went back to dealer with new regulator just bolted on with the one nut and asked them to rivet in. They used an air rivet gun to do it, so easy with the right tools.

I used a 1/4" drill on the rivets to take them out.

I bought 30640780 rivets - The main rivet body is .185" in diameter and .400" in long. Weakly magnetic, so I guess stainless.
