a few months either Sept or Oct 2005 everyonce in a while (once every 2 months or greatr in time) I would try and start my car. One turn of the key and it would start. But it happened like this, it would turnover once, then quickly give a cough/sputter like it wouldn't start, then a second later it would start, wouldn't have to turn the key more than once.
Then around Dec battry died, replaced at NTB w/an Excide. Now, this past Thursday I go out to start the car, no turnover or anything, quiet. Tow truck guy hooks up a jumper battery to mine..nothing..get it started by putting it in gear and pushing it. Bring it to Volvo, they locate a glove compartment light that is constantly on.. They disable the light, and make sure the starter isn't faulty, the battery passes load test, and they make sure the glove box's wire aren't drawing current.
TODAY, car doesn't turn over same as before. This time tow truck guy hooks up a jumper battery to mine, turns key, it starts!
I bring it to Volvo..won't know till a couple of days...
I'd like to hear people's ideas on what it could be.
Could it still be the starter? Or something totally electrical?? as opposed to mechanical?
Lastly, I will add that if you turn on the passenger's heated seat, the seat doesn't get warm...not sure if that's related or not.
Won't start? here's what I know, any input appreciated

relay contacts, fuel pump/filter...
Check out the sticky thread on stalling, there are a few of the causes that are related to not starting.

If it jump starts just fine, I'd certainly assume it to be some sort of electrical issue. Ever checked to see if the trunk light goes out when you close it? Generally, electrical problems are some of the most troubling to figure out...
