Same thing happened to me.
Turned out to be a bad MAF.
New Bosch MAF and 1.5 years later, car runs fine.
S70 stumbles on start
cn90, did your issue start out that way or did the MAF ever flat-out fail?
I haven't had any of the other issues I had when it went bad on the 1999 - bucking, random stalling, etc. Just the hard start and occasional stumble until it gets going.
Someone else thought this might be an issue too. How would I go about checking for it if the sensor hasn't failed outright, though?

In my case, the MAF never flat failed.
It was intermittent, sometimes dangerous (passing cars on highway!) because while passing cars, it stalls for 2-3 seconds, then the momentum of the car "jump-started" it.
Disconnected MAF, car ran fine in "Limp Home Mode".
You are lucky you got 150K out of the MAF. Most MAFs fail at 100K or so.
The new Bosch MAF is about $150 online.
