clicking noise = damper motors adjusting the heat

RE: 2006 XC70

It seems that after backing out of a parking spot or a driveway or initially accelerated from a stop, when the car is put into drive and then accelerated, when you get to 10 mph, there is a loud click/noise. This was serviced and the technician was unsure of what this was. Then we test drove another similar car (same year and model) and this happened in that car (not as loud). They were still not sure what this is. My concern is, what is this noise? Is this in all the cars of this model? My two loaner cars (different models) have not made that noise.

I just want someone to assure me that this is "normal" and not a concern for safety. Maybe this will be something that needs to be recalled unless someone has a good explanation for this loud click.

It almost sounds like gears are changing (but very loud)

After contacting Volvo, they feel that this is the damper motors adjusting the heat...

This is LOUD...I have not heard this in any other car/model...

So my question is, does your XC70 Click when just starting and reaching 10 mph

Could it be auto-locking doors when you reach 10mph? I think it's be software configurable by the dealer.
