Hi folks. Just got a very clean 86 740 and everything works (!!!). Brake job done in June.
However front wheel bearing issue arose. The OEM parts include a single piece hub and rotor. The R Front bearing is shot. I have been quoted $385 from Meineke which tells me that they are going to replace the front rotor and hub etc. Another shop has told me $147 for the bearings part and 2Hrs installation costs ($90 per hour).
There is a retro fit kit to the two piece hub and rotor (post 1988). I am wondering if any of you have done the work and what the steps are to do it. I am thinking of both sides in the front since this will homogenize the parts and future service and as well, cost me about the same or even less.
Thoughts?

VADIS shows a brake disc kit, #5 on the attached, which would appear to solve your problem.
The note alongside the number says. "270876, spare part version." I have checked the part number on the Volvo Wholesale Parts site, above, and it lists it as, "Wheels and front suspension - Front suspension - Hub and rotor - W/o abs. Girling Back 1985 - 1987." It also lists, "Wheels and front suspension - Front suspension - Hub and rotor - W/o abs. Dba, 14" Back 1983 - 1987. Obviously you would need to know if you had Girling or DBA brakes.
I would suggest that you contact them for more help on this in case I am reading VADIS wrong.
Bill.
