XC90 wheel bearing replacement.

My wife's Volvo needs a new wheel bearing. Metal on metal, dealer ordered wrong one last week. Told her to keep driving it and come back next week. She's now put over 500 miles on it since he sent her home. He knew she was a traveler. I worry that she's doing extra damage to the axle, or that the whole thing may just fall off before next week. Plus, it's 85 miles back to the dealer.
Should she stop driving it? Should I find someone else to repair it, could I do it myself?

If it is a rear wheel bearing on a AWD they can be difficult to remove due to corrosion. The only way front or rear that it would do any other damage would be if it came apart. If it is on the rear be prepared to replace the E-brake shoes as well and possibly(ideally) rear rotors. Also the other side could possibly fail soon or just not be noticable due to the obviously bad one making more noise.
