s80 gearbox problem

hi there can anybody help me, have had a problem with the car for 18 months now and seems to be getting slowly worse, the car seems to pulse or surge when cruising only, it wont do it under acceleration and also struggles to change gear when i accelerate hard. have had the engine system service required light on for 6 months now, and today had the reduced performance light come on but it didnt seem to have any affect on the performance at all. can anyone help please.

You, an independent shop or a dealership have to plug a scanner into the OBDII connector which is located beneath the dash where your left knee is located on a Left hand drive vehicle. Not sure if it is located the same place on a Right hand drive which I assume is what you have. i.e. I guess Kent is Kent England?
You can also purchase a scanner from BSR in Sweden. They had discontinued the PPC 1 scanner but recently said they had a limited supply available 'while quantities last' kind of a thing. See my posting below. The good thing about the BSR PPC 1 scanner is that it lets you reset all the DTC's including things like SRS (air bag) code. They list the price as 227 euros.
