Today, re-glued the upholstery on the sunroof shade. Scraped off a good bit of the old stuff and used the correct 3M trim adhesive this time.

I changed the front and rear pads on my Black 1998 S70. It was fairly simple and extremely satisfying when all done. I was able to bring my iPad2 into my garage to see several of the "how to" photos.

Last week, I bought a master switch for my Blue 1998 S70 from a local junkyard through ebay for $50. It was really cruddy and the door lock switch was stuck to one side, and I almost returned it, but decided to keep it when he told me it was his only master switch. When I got it home I took it apart, again using my iPad on my kitchen table to view the photos posted by others and realized that the spring had gone missing. So, I just grabbed the old master switch and pulled the spring, and installed it in my ebay find. I also cleaned up the contacts that were absolutely black and crap covered using contact tip cleaner and a toothpick so as not to bend the contacts. Finally, I took a Mr. Clean "magic eraser" and a dab of water and cleaned the top of the plastic switches using care and not too much pressure so as not to wear through the opaque grey color "mask" that occludes the LED lights that illuminate the master switch at night. I would only do this when the unit is out of the door and the plastic switches have been separated from the contacts. I only wish I had a before and after photo, because the master switch looks brand new.

Both of my front doors were not opening from the outside. I got a 'new' lock mechanism from the local pick-n-pull and then used some parts from the old one to repair the other lock mechanism. Its such a relief to be able to open my car!

The shit really has the consistency of honey too. My hand was sore after putting it on, which took about 30 minutes for All the seats. I put the stuff on last night, and will be wiping the excess off today when I get home.

Never heard of this stuff, What is it suppose to do? Does it work?

The clear filter for the windshield washer had been getting plugged up with black gunk, so today I inspected the tank, and it was full of this weird black slimy film. Biofilm? I don't know, but it took a lot of flushing to get it out. Anyone else experience that? I guess I need to use washer fluid with better anti-microbial properties?

Installed a trailer hitch, and replaced the rear stays. Corrosion on the inner stay bolts, plus apparent swelling of the inner bushing made the job a b. Amazing how weak the old stays had become.

Finished installing my custom removable sub box! 200 watt amp, 10-inch DVC with quick-release connectors. It weighs a ton but lets me pull the box and sub when I need to fold down the seats and use all the room in the wagon.

One sub driven by the amp which is mounted in the other side of the box.

It's an off-the-shelf box and it's the perfect size to fit right behind the rear seat. Carpet color is dark gray so it's not 'hidden' but it's pretty close.

Still a little top heavy so I need to figure out how to mount it steady so it doesn't flip back when I accelerate.

Not awful. You have to remove the (glass) sunroof, though. Set it open *upwards*, undo four (?) torx screws in the mounts (study how it sits in the mounts; there are two screws that don't have to come off, and it's not immediately obvious which those are) and remove it. Then the sliding shade panel comes out through the roof.

I cleaned as much of the old, dried glue as I could off the fabric and (plastic) panel, and used the adhesive as directed. So far no sags.
