SC-816 Radio CD Player Dead

Hi there, bought an S40 that had wired in a old motorola dock. Me being me, I decided to remove it and in doing so, removed the motorola docks car lighter plug that had been wired into the radio power. I removed a power cable and one that was marked ground that was attached to the top of the radio from car lighter plug and it stopped showing power and the radio still showed power. I thought that by reattaching the power and ground wires, instead of being exposed or left separate was the right thing, but no.. I put them together and there was a puff of smoke and the radio now has no power. I've checked the fuse under the dash but its still fine..

Can anyone help me fix this? Is there an internal fuse in the player?
