850 starter will not engage
850 starter will not engage
When I turn the key to run I get all the dash board lights, headlights come on, everything works. But once I try to turn it over, all I get is the starter relay clicking and nothing else. All the lights stay on, so it's not the battery. Starter is new.

If your starter is new, and your try starting and hear click noise=battery. Just because your have enough power for lights, does not mean its not. Your battery is now in discharge mode. Do you have a Volvo battery,, and how old is your battery. Typically, Volvo brand batteries last for 5-7 years tops. Since my S70 was purchased new (1998), I've replace it twice. The original lasted 7 yrs, replace in 2004, and 2010...all Volvo. I had bad experience with other batteries from others cars, and with warranty, you can buy a new Volvo battery for the same price. Open up your battery and look at the cells, you should find uneven fluids or maybe dry cells.

Seems pretty simple. If you can jump start it , its your battery.
