´98 V70 no sunroof, window, wiper, dashlight power

Post by anderslohmann »

Hi

My power windows, sunroof, wipers, radio, AC and dash lights are not working. I have checked all fuses and swapped around a couple of relay's without any luck. I suspect that the ECC needs a restart and have read at a forum, that I should disconnect the battery and hold the cords together for 20 sec. to discharge the system - is this safe to do for the system? Any good advice on what to do, so I don't have to see my local volvo dealership and pay them $110 for a diagnostics report? Thanks

Sounds more like a simple lack of power. That "shorting the cables" thing won't help.

I'd start by taking a closer look at your main ( A & B ) fuse box. Get the meter out...
I looks like a common denominator for all these things is fuse 6 in that "big fuse" box.
That's a 60 amp fuse for ign switch overload relay 105 (2/30) and provides power for
fuses 5 through 10 in the central distribution (C) fuse box nearest the windshield.
There should be power present on both sides of that fuse at all times.

Here's a quick reference for fuse sections A, B and C:

Thanks. I just took fuse A6 out, as you said a 60A yellow one. then I measured the voltage (car turned off). I only have 12 V on the leg facing the motor - the outside leg is only 2,3V. When the fuse is in, there is 12 V on all fuses C5-10, and without it, they are dead.

Should I try switching relay 105 and 106? or?

Try jiggling the ignition switch...

Didn't do a thing - Thanks though. It turned out, I had two bad relay's 105 and 106... Everything works now. Thank you so much for your help. In addition, I will mentioin that I also restarted the whole electric system in the car, according to this forums guidelines: http://howardsvolvos.webs.com/miscissues.htm#207347288 .
