Hi all,
A lot of work is done on our cars thru the passenger side wheel well where we remove a couple black plastic nuts and peel back the fender liner. Over time and servicing motor mounts, timing belts, water pumps etc that plastic liner is deformed and usually not able to be held down as tight as it should. A lot of us also experience rubbing in full turn and if that liner is no longer conforming to the fender it really rubs a lot, in my case enough to melt thru the black plastic liner.
I since cut out the offending deformed liner and no more rubbing, but I am concerned with road debris, snow etc. getting up into the crank and timing belt area of the engine since it is now exposed.
Has anyone else delt with this issue in any way other than replacing the entire inner liner? Thanks
Randy

I had a split liner that let all manner of crud in.
I got a new one and found so much sand, gravel and mud in
there that I pulled the bumper cover and fender off, then power
washed the whole mess. It's amazing how deep it can get!
It also gave me a chance to get a good look at everything.
Call a dealer and get a new one. Pull the old, get it all cleaned
up and install the fresh one. It's a good feeling...

I had to remove mine and haven't put it back on yet.
Thanks for the replys,
I remember working on a car in the past, maybe one of my old trucks, that had a heavy flap that unbolted and rolled up out of the way. I was thinking of desigining somethinkg like that with some ptfe coated fabric, but the angles are awkward and may still rub and with seams, crud can still get in there.
Price for the entire fender well splash guard was not bad, And I like playing with my rivet tool.

Last time I checked those were $55 each. That was a couple of years ago when I needed them. Mine weren't worn from maintenance, the PO has tires on there that were too big and rubbed through.
I ended up getting a couple of used ones, they're still doing fine.
