Climate Control Console on S60

Post by becky »

Hi
I have followed your extremely useful instructions on how to remove the dashboard environment panel on my 2002 S60. At the tricky stage, the two hooks broke. I got the panel out, but now have no idea how to mend the hooks. Can anyone help? It says in the instructions to see the section about the dashboard in the workshop manual in VADIS (what is this??)
I have asked my local Volvo garage, and they can't find anything to help me.
Thanks in advance
Becky

Volvo Aftersales Diagnostics Information System

Just a disnostic computer thingymajig that Volvo plug into your car to identify faults. Also comprises manuals on how to correct faults etc.

If you went to Volvo and they couldn't help, then I recommend going to a different dealer, they are obviously just been 100% lazy.

I rang my local Volvo garage and they faxed me a copy of their parts info. I have a picture of the console, and a picture of the dashboard - both with all parts numbered - and neither myself or the Parts man at Volvo can see anything that even resembles the clips! Does anyone know what they are ?
Thanks
Becky

I have a copy of Vadis. It says if any of the outer hooks break off, this must be "rectified".
Duh!

Then it starts talking about using double sided tape, ..."tape the 3.5mm thick component measuring 20x20mm to the reverse of the dashboard environmental panel. Use double sided tape. Fix the other side of the piece with double sided tape so that there is a solid anchorage when reinstalling against the center consol"
I know this doesn't sound like a good fix. If its the plastic tabs you broke, maybe you could use plastic weld from AutoZone.

If you simply lost the metal thingees like I did, I fished them out with a magnet. I found one was missing anyway.
Can fax you the screen print from VADIS but I do not think it is going to help much.
