My 2007 Volvo V50 2.4i has what I believe is an intermittent problem with the electric vacuum pump. After my commute I can hear the vacuum pump whine when the engine is off, this continues for a couple of minutes and then shuts off. I have noticed this intermittently over the past several months, when it does occur it is very loud and the electric motor is hot to the touch.
Anyone have experience with this? I've seen other volvos with a similar issue that indicated a problem with the vacuum sensor. I've looked at the hoses connected to the pump but I do not see anything obvious connected to them that looks like a sensor.
Thanks for your help,
Scott

It sounds like one of the switches that goes to your booster might be bad, and the pump is working overtime trying to compensate. Make sure the check valves to the booster are all functioning normally.
