There is probably a spec on the resistance for the crank sensor, sorry I do not know it. Give it some time, probably someone on here knows.

No junkyard around? Someone else with an 850 who would loan you a sensor for an hour? This is a pretty easy one to swap in and out. I mean use the junkyard one for testing, if it works then probably get a new one. Probably you just need to get this thing up and running I know how that goes ...

EDIT: oh first thing to try is just unplug it, clean the contacts and plug it back in.

EDIT 2: if the crank sensor is bad, there will be no spark from the coil. Doesn't nail it but something you can check.

EDIT 3: and check the MAF, get that one out of the way.

I have good spark coming out of coil...must be rotor cap wires plugs?

I suppose it could end up being as simple as rotor-cap-wires-plugs, give them a look. Kinda strange that it suddenly went to a no-start but give them a look. If you search you may be able to find the spec resistance values (ohms) for each plug wire, I know I have seen it before.

Did you check the MAF yet? Unplug/re-plug the crank sensor?

I confess, the deeper you get into this without resolution, the less sure I am of my diagnoses ...

Erik, I had some spark on a few fires then i took the cap off and sanded the connections, put all back together and now no spark at all . The plugs look terrible, a lot of corrosion in the cap it definately need these things anyhow. I gonna go in the morning and get a tune up kit. I'll post the results. Thanks again for all your help.

Might be worth montioring the voltage going IN to the coil.

When my cam sensor failed the car refused to start hot, had CEL (didn't have code reader at the time). When it did start it ran fine. It was very intermittent.
Ambitious but rubbish
