Fuel problem?

Post by windpirate »

hey folks...i need some help. This morning I ran low on gas on the way to work... Put in 20 bucks at the first store...went a bout a mile stopped at a light and it stalled. Wouldn't start back up. I can hear the fuel pump kick on and pressurize when I turn the key. I have fuel that squirts out at the shrader valve. Jumped the fuel relay. Tried unplugging MAF. Pulled a spark plug, had spark. Where should I go from here. Thanks, Brian

Is the check engine light on?

If so, check the codes and let me know what codes come up.

I would connect a scanner to the car if you have one. Being it has fuel and spark, the only thing that is missing is air. If you don't have any codes, then start checking for major vacuum leaks.

What are the chances this is a fuel filter problem? How do I check it?

If you've got fuel pressure at the rail, it ain't the filter.

I would get a 'noid light if you can find one and hook it up to an injector plug, or pull out an injector to make sure that it is pulsing while cranking the engine over. A bad cam position sensor (or fuel relay) can result in the injectors not firing.

When I say "i have fuel that squirts out the schrader valve " , I just pushed it and a little squirted out...does it need a certain pressure? I didn't try it with the motor turning over.

I read the codes , they were P0172,p0171, and p0422. I'm not sure what this is telling me.
