I just purchased a 2005 V50 with known climate control issues. I figured A reprogram on the ccc would probably fix it. but being the cheap b#$@!*&^ i am, i found matts excellent wiring diagrames with 230 Pages of intensity. whoo hooo. another technical challange! Diagrams I understand, women I dont. (well the mechanical part I get. just not the logic part. )So too the diagram's.
Page 67 of appended 2005 s40 and v50 shows relay 2/22 supplying power to A/c compressor. Mine works great and compressor cycles on /off just great until gn/ blue wire to terminal 1/86 loses power ( takes about 1/2 hour and is temp related) After that I have to shut fan off and wait 60 seconds +- and then it will start to cycle on/off again for another few minutes. the key here is that 2/22 loses control side power and that fuse is good and that relay keeps alot of other things running. so its working.
well gn/ blue wire gets its power from relay 2/32 and that powers a lot of other things more important than A/C.
I am still not on top of this and report when I am. But based on this. A 150 buck reprogram probably wont fix it. I ran out of day light.
Oh if ignorance would just be bliss, then I would be Blessed. if you have some instinct or incite just post
climate control 2005 V50
well I was convinced that an electrical issue was involve. But not to be. It was strictly mechanical. After reading A few Volvo bread clip fixes I decided to try it. As I discovered the wire in this spaceship that supplied power to the compressor and it had power when it should.
So I got some bread clips and pulled the wheel and the inner fender. Turns out the bread clip wasn't the choice of This mcguiver. A roll of plumbers tape strap available from local hardware store measured about 1 MM thick and was easy to trim to a shape to insert . Plus it was steel. After inserting the clutch was still free. No binding. Glued them in with some silicone ( actually tub caulking cause it was handy) And 30 mile later climate control works perfect. I can't imagine how many compressors have been replaced because of this probem. I know with 130K , I will have to replace the compressor in years coming, But its good to know 1.30 cents and a hours time can fix a late model Volvo.
