Speaker works intermitently V-70.

The drivers side door speaker in my 98 V-70 cuts in and out at will. This happens as we drive or when the car is stationary. It seems to cut in and back out every 10-20 minutes or so. When we had our dealership check it the speaker worked the whole time. Has any one had this problem?

Yes, I am having the same problem with my 93' 850 GLT. Except it is the entire rear speakers.Have checked the whole system for failures, cannot find the problem either?

My 850 drivers side door speaker has the same problem of intermittent operation too.

I think this is a common problem coz the drivers side door is always abused.

Definitely problem with connectors at the door or speaker. Tempted to solder everything in sight.

I have had the same problems and have successfully had them fixed. My rear speakers at first would give heavy feedback when I turned off the ignition. After a while they quit altogether. Come to find out the right rear speaker wire was pinched between the speaker body and the vehicle frame. It shorted out to ground when the wire insulation failed. The ignition was giving the feedback. It caused the rear amplifier chip (Toshiba ta8221l) to totally fail. I replaced the chip and repaired the wire and the rear speakers now work.

But this is not all of the story. Recently the front speakers would cut out intermittantly. I figured that the other amplifier chip was going bad as it acted up when hot (thermal failure). The chip was replaced but it still did not work. Then upon further close microscopic inspection, the PC board itself had numerous areas where solder whiskers, left over from the manufacturing process had been left behind. After a thourough cleaning with a magnifying glass, a stiff brush and alot of help from my father in law who is a eletronic tech the radio now works fine. The debis left behind was from the manufacturing process and was actually under the lacquer type coating on the PC board. It was poor quality control and a failure to properly clean the board after the soldering process was completed. Apparently these solder whiskers migrate over time and temperature and migrated enough to cause a shorting out of the signal going to the amplifier.
