Strange S40 turbo problem

Post by Sat280 »

My 2005 S40 has been having some strange issues with the turbo lately. Upon hard acceleration or acceleration above 60 it seems to "chug" or "sputter" out. This is accompanied by a slight shutter, lose of power, but no changes in rpm. If I pull over and turn the car off it resets itself and all is fine. Problem is sporadic but seems to be getting increasingly worse. Anyone have ideas?

Check all your vaccum hoses, its seems like one is pushing air inside on the hard aceleration, and came back to position on deceleration..

Also take a look on the air intlet hose, near the turbo, cracks on the lower side its a common failure on volvo turbos. due the excesive heat builtup.
