2005 V50 auto-manual switch

Post by elchopperfreak »

A friend called today, he is having problems with the auto- manual switch.
He says the trans is shifting fine, but once they switch into manual it does not activate, they still have a pefect working trans but not manual.
I have not driven a V50 so I am quoting what he said.
Told him to go get the codes and email them to me.
Any clues?
Thanks in advance

The trans is not where Geartronic comes from. It is a special shifter and software in the TCM. The gear lever has a magnet on it and there are three sensors on a circuit board under the gear lever trim panel. The circuit board is called the Gear Selector Module (GSM). The GSM has three sensors. One is triggered by magnet being sensed when lever is moved into man gate. There is forward one for gear lever forward and a rear one for rear lever motion. The lever is de-linked from cable when you move lever over to man position. The magnet may have fallen off lever or the GSM is just faulty. Does Winter button do its function when depressed?
