Yep, I've been using these for years. When I first tried them I tested the plugs outside the motor, and the spark really does shoot out the hole...it's pretty cool.

I might give em a try. My 850 is due. I almost jumped out of my shoes yesterday when I saw OEM 5-packs for Turbos are $50 now.

I Googled "NGK sonic spark plugs" and found a few interesting pages. It looks like it's an aftermarket treatment for plugs from a few companies.
If you visit http://www.supersonicspark.com, you'll see a few customer testimonials, but I have to wonder if the claimed improvements were scientifically tested, or if they replaced old, dirty plugs with the new ones. Either way, I hope it’s not snake oil!

I don't know. Wouldn't it be possible for the spark to jump to the piston this way? Maybe not on a non-modified engine but supposed the engine were modified for high compression or stroked or something? I had issues with some surface gap plugs years ago, jc whitney snake oil plugs. A piston got holed and others in the engine looked like they were on the way. I do admit this happened many many years ago on a modified Dodge engine.

I can't find them using "NGK super sonic" or "NGK Supersonic" except in articles related to snowmobiles.
The inventor, David Wofsey, will likely answer the phone...he's quite a guy:
About Dave Wofsey
David Wofsey is an erstwhile scientist for Martin Marietta (now called Lockheed Martin – the world’s largest defense contractor), where he earned a Purple Martin scientific achievement award for his work on the Titan Missile; Wofsey is believed to be the only individual (non-team) recipient. Previously, he worked in the field of acoustics. David Wofsey is also president of the Citizen’s Rapid Transit Committee of Denver, a private think-tank.
Sonic Spark inventor David Wofsey is available for professional engineering consultation.

Quick, buy shares NOW: http://www.enginebrain.com/2/business.html
Seems Wofsey is a smart guy, but it's hard to give credibility to this stuff its muddled with words like "supersonic" and other marketing drivel.
From his blog: http://sparkplugengineering.com/word/?p=29
It's an interesting theory, especially regarding the suggest improvement in homogenization in the cylinder. No case studies or documentation of testing that was done to prove the theory though, even some CFD. Maybe that will come later....
My thoughts that you are limited to what you can do to the charge already in the cylinder in terms of homogenization simply due to time constraints. The time between spark and TDC is pretty small. It's all very well suggesting that these plugs alter how the charge moves in the cylinder, but one has to think of how much you can really do in that time gap. "Whistle" or not, each spark only gets one shot at an inducted charge, so I dont think I buy the whisle theory.
