cooling fan relay

cooling fan is not running at all, even when i turn on the AC, as the car started to overheat a little. were is the cooling fan relay located. how can i test this or test the fan itself. XC90 2008 6cyl

The cooling fan has an integrated solid state controller, there is no relay.

were is this located, is this inside the fan shroud. i see the power wires and a lite purple small guage with that plugs into the cooling fan on the radiator. of course the black and red wire show power. so fixing the issue might be to replace the cooling fan or replace this controller?

Yes, you will need to replace the fan. This should be the link to the part number. Quite pricey at dealer prices. Check some of the site sponsors websites to look for a better deal.

The controller is made into the fan motor. The motor is brushless and the fan controller has to more or less turn DC current in to AC for the brushless type motor.
