Ambient Temperature Sensor Replacement

Post by Warren561 »

Hi all,

I banged up the lower front air dam on my 2000 S70 pretty bad. The air dam cracked, and I replaced it.

However, I also banged up the ambient temperature sensor. The one that plugs into the air dam on the passenger side of the car.

I need to replace this sensor. But, I don't see how to. It looks like the wire attached to it runs right up into a wire harness. There doesn't seem to be a plug or anything that I can yank out and plug the new sensor into.

Has anyone replaced this before? Do I need to replace the whole harness?

Thanks

Shouldn't have to replace the whole harness, but for the life of me, I can't seem to find the temp. sensor in my parts program. You might want to inquire with the dealer or call fcpgroton.com Monday.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Nice diagrams...I missed those in my parts program, but I believe he's talking about the one in the front of the car, under the radiator, in the air damn.

Do you mean the outside temp sensor ? If not what is the use of this sensor ?

Yep...that's what he means, I think. The sensor in the car controlls the thermostat for the inside cabin temp.

Yes, I mean the sensor that is outside of the car. It is attached to the front air dam underneath the front bumper. Its on the passenger side of the car. If you crawl underneath it is right at the end of the condenser.
