Testing fuel pump

Post by broke wagon »

I have a used fuel pump from a 240 wagon. The one that is located along side the fuel filter. My question is.... how do you test it ??? It's not installed right now and I'd like to know if its still good. I do have a electrical test, but don't if I could test it with that.
thanks

Jump two wires from the battery to the contacts on the pump. It should run and doing so for a second or two will not harm the pump. Do not run it longer than that as it is cooled and lubricated by the fuel.
