Can we really not replace the OEM radio for 2006 s40

Post by randall23 »

Is it true we cannot replace the original radio in a 2004.5 through current s40? Mine is going out and there are so many options out there, you'd think there would be options!

Thanks!

Randall

You are stuck. Climate control and radio share the ICM (the UI panel) and there is no way I know of to keep climate and lose the audio portion.
These days the percentage of people that install aftermarket audio is getting smaller every year. The cool things buyers of new cars want don't fit with stand alone radios.
Look at any late model Lexus, Benz, BMW, Ford, GM, Chrysler. They all have the display panel or on some, a touch panel with multiple functions.

Thanks Jimmy, appears mine is going out. So many Bluetooth aftermarket radios with phone functions. I just would think in this day and age there would be a work around! Thanks for your response!
