01 v70 2.4t start up problem

Post by theturk »

Hi everyone,
I own this Volvo since July and had strange problems since then.

Today when I was driving back home the sign came up about the brake failure and told me to do turn off the engine along with STC light.(odometer showed -------, too) I was only a quarter mile away from home luckily. After a quick research I decided it is the ABS module. However when I got back to the car see if the warning went away, car didn't start at all. There were no sign of power, no interior light or headlight or nothing. It felt like battery missing tried to jump start, no luck. Later on checked the battery and it is fine voltmeter is reading mid 12's. I have no clue what the problem might be. Have any suggestions?

thank you for your time
Suha

The module failure may be blocking communication on the network for engine and transmission. If this is the case then unplugging the ABS module will let the trans deliver the gear position signal and the CEM will operate starter. BE sure key is off for 10 minutes before you turn on ignition and attempt starting.

FLASH NEWS!!! my mechanic saw the car today and told me ECM is burned because of the battery short. Long story short it will cost me $1300! Can I put any used one from junk yard? Which numbers should match part number for sure but also software number?
