Word on iRoll tuning chips in 850 turbos ?
whats the word on this new company ? is it simply an increase of boost or is it more advanced .. the dyno results r over 300 very seductive numbers but whats the truth ? please any and all shed light on this new company
I picked up one of these in March. I ended up somewhat confused by it all. I bought a complete ECU unit with the chip already installed, all work done by the vendor. I wanted a fall back unit in case Calif. smog test became a problem and I wasn't comfortable with soldering adapters on to a circuit board.
The first unit I got would flat out not work, car would crank but not start. Emails back and forth returned unit to vendor. Vendor reported back that chip had come loose from adapter in transit. He repaired, tested and returned it to me. The unit I received was not what he had originally sent. First unit was a 072 ecu this one was a 628 R ecu.
It does work better than the stock one I started with, a definite improvement in mid to upper range. Not an "oh my god" difference but more when you get on it merging onto the freeway. It does NOT seem very linear or even consistent in when and how much bang I get. In that I ended up with an R ecu I don't know how much of the boost came from the chip and how much is stock r ecu improvement. All of this is seat of the pants dyno no actual empirical testing. Lets face it just changing an ECU is not going to get you 300 hp no matter what the salesman says. I am more disappointed in the feel and consistency of the boost.
If it had been available at the time I would have gone with ARD white. A well established track record and by word of mouth reputation the way to go. Just my experience.
