Question about '98 ignition coil...

Post by delquattro »

I'm installing an MSD Blaster coil, but I'm trying to confirm the polarity of the original coil wires. It has a blue and a red wire. Can anyone tell me which is positive, and negative? I tried hooking up my volt meter, but there was no voltage showing even with the key turned to "on."

Thanks,

Del

You might recognize the bracket as the bracket for the original coil.

Okay, took a chance that the red wire was positive, and I was right. I even tested with my volt meter to confirm.

I modded the mounting bracket for the original coil to mount the MSD coil. Using the cutoff disc and my Dremel, I cut off the rivets holding the old coil to the bracket. Then I hammered the 90 degree bend out of the end of the bracket.

It's a tight fit...so I had to go without the rubber mounts.

I countersunk the holes.
