Bulb Failure, position light

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

two S60's.....several experiences with this....

Its most likely a rear bulb. There are several bulbs in the rear clusters and likely you are simply missing one of those. And note: there should always be one empty socket for the rear fog light (do not add a missing bulb to that socket, otherwise it looks like your brake lights are on while driving and it will blow the fuse).

On my other S60, I had a worn/damaged socket in the front and replaced the socket to fix the problem (the light DID light but the extra resistance confused the system).

No, it is not a ECU problem. It is a wiring problem. And an annoying one I agree.

- double check all your bulbs in back
- check/clean your sockets

ALong this line of thought: I had a *weird* light bulb problem. I had a license plate bulb that would go out. I would lightly tap/rap the lens and it would come on and stay on. I replaced the bulb and the problem went away. Apparently the filament was loose inside the bulb and when it got hot it would stay connected

Quick question guys, following my error message on the bulb failure issue, I've been investigating and wanted to ask if this may be the problem; I fitted front fog light and had them connected directly to the headlight because to use the fog light switch requires a software. The fog lights works ok but could this be causing the error message? Any ideas?

It shouldn't since the position bulb is in the rear but disconnect the fogs and see. Hope you're running the fogs off a relay and not directly off the headlight wiring....
