2002 s60 2.4t transmission fluid

i am very confused on which transmission fluid to use for my transmission flush.
i have spent many hours reading on which fluid to use, but every site tells me something different. can someone please clear up which fluid is correct, and how much is needed to do a complete drain and refill method.
thanks for any help, and i apologize if this has already been discussed.

JWs 3309 spec only, available from the dealer, Mobil 3309 can be ordered over the net, or Toyota T-IV fluid available at any Toyota dealer (probably the cheapest). Not sure on the drain and fill amount, I usually do the flush method via the transmission cooler line. I am sure there are post on this site that can tell you how much.

Why would that article bother you?
3309 fluid is WHAT THSE TRANSMISSIONS TAKE...
NOT SYNTHETIC NOT MOBIL 1 Syn.

Mobil 3309
Toyota Type VI
or
Volvo bottled 3309 (which is Mobil 3309 but Volvo labled so it's more expensive)
Buy the Toyota fluid, it's the same stuff, but cheaper
DO NOT PUT A SYNTHETIC IN

But it's it's YOUR Volvo and you seem that you will do what you want, so please... don't come back and cry if it fails

i was only skeptical due to a volvo dealership telling me i should only use full synthetic for my transmission.

ans yes ultimately it is my volvo, but i take all advice given to me on here very seriously. everyone on here seems to be very knowledgeable and i am only trying to get my facts straight and do proper work.

Many people at dealerships say and think 3309 is a synthetic, which it's not.
Most of the people that work at most of the dealerships are idiots

This topic (not necessarily this post) should be tagged to the top of the forum with the correct fluids listed. This question seems to pop up often and there is alot of misleading information on the net available to read. Couple this with the fact that many are reporting the dealer is stating the fluid is synthetic, I could see where someone could become confused.

its actually very confusing when these individuals are claiming what they say is fact, when then actually dont really know.

Perhaps it's because dealerships like to replace $4000 transmissions by hastening the failure of them by providing false info. Of course, they probably also claim that the official $20/litre Volvo fluid is synthetic; which of course, it is not since it is also re-labeled Mobil 3309.
