My 850 turbo rebs up to 2 and 3000 rpm for a total of 5 secs sometimes more, then back down at a normal rate. I am wondering why this is can anyone exlpain?

I have a '96 850 Turbo doing the same thing. With mine, it only does it some of the time. It's like something gets stuck and then gets unstuck after it starts.

Thats normal. I had that with my S70 turbo and my V70 XC, and my Saab 9-3 is doing the same. Its because on a cold engine/in cold weather, oil becomes thicker and the engine needs to get it goingthrough if you get what I mean. Not a very technological answer but once the engine is lubricated and warms up a bit, the oil thins out and itll slow back down to operating/idle speed.

It's just warming itself up. Don't put it into gear until the revs have dropped down to normal. Then it's ready to drive.
