Hooking up a Sony GT 430IP radio?

Post by Uel »

I'm looking to swap out the factory radio with a Sony CDX-GT430IP. Has anyone made this switch and if so what should I watch for? I've read the posts about programming the computer to not look for the factory radio. The shop I'm using claims to have done several and never had a problem. He claims it's a matter of using the correct harness. I'm a little nervous about it because of what I've read here and on other forums. I have an '04 S60. Thanks

You will NOT be able to use the steering wheel audio controls nor the speed sense volume adjust.

The correct harness will conneect power, speakers, etc.

You also need a Scosche-style faceplate adaptor.

I purchased a set of harness adaptors and faceplate for my 2001 S60 but changed my mind since I didnt want to give up the steering wheel controls. You can have it for my cost - they are brand new in packages still. Send PM if interested.

There were canBUS adaptors once - they cost like $100 but they arent available anymore for Volvo's. The generic ones are horribly unreliable.
