Hello Everyone,

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have been having a great deal of trouble with my 1990 240DL wagon, with the brake lights staying permanently on. In my first post, I thought that perhaps the brake switch was somehow at fault, but I have determined, after testing the old one, and even installing a new one, that this wasn

You have a ground problem, probably back in the rear light console or the connections. One explanation why the behavior is so odd is that normaly you turn on the brake light by a brake pedal switch connecting the blulb to ground. All other lights in the rear consols are working by connecting the + (live) to the bulbs. If ground is missing, it is always looking for an alternative way to ground.
