PLEASE HELP 83 244 D1 gasoline fuel inj turbo

I don't know what exactly to call this car. It goes by model X47 as far as I can tell. It was purchased new in Germany and brought to the U.S. It wont run and I have been trying to figure it out. It trys to start while turning over but just wont go all the way. It has what I think is a CIS type injection system in it and no intercooler. I have been replacing and testing sensors and relays for a while with no luck. It acts like the timming is out of whack. I turn the distributer a little and it seems to help but still wont start. I'm thinking about pulling the whole dist out and turning it a little so I can get some more adjusting room. I've changed all of the vacuum lines to new ones and really need a routing diagram for the vacuum lines. I have two that come from the control pres regulator and a few others I'm not to sure about. The car only has 144,000 miles on it and is in pretty good shape. Does this type of engine have a Mass Airflow Sensor? If so where is it? I've looked everywhere. Any help to get me going would be appreciated.
