2005 V70 - Bulb Replacement or Upgrade

Post by radmangto »

Anyone out there upgraded their current std halogen bulbs in their Volvo? Some time ago, I did some googling to see if there were options, but nothing seemed available other than the Silverstar line. The originals are still in (2005) and they appear to be loosing their brightness .... might be my aging eyes ...

I'm only interested in whiter light.

Thanks,

Silverstars made a big difference here. That being said, I went back to the cheapies because the Silverstars went out in just about a year! I ain't paying that kind of money for low beams that are going to go out that quick.

Are the lenses oxidated, on mine they started to fade - planning a buffing when weather permits. Just buffed the lenses on my Honda and it does make a difference. Also just replacing with regular bulbs will help some.

Depending on the level oxidation, you may need to do micro-sanding then buffing .... my lenses were recently professionally buffed ... but the upper edge horizontal portion of bothlenses, probably not really affecting light transmission, were quite pitted as if something was dripping off the edges of the hood .... that does require some sanding then buffing .... you'll recognize pitting versus what needs buffed .....
