Which OBD2 cable?

Hi,

1995 850 with OBD2 (no OBD1 fitted)

I want to buy an OBD2 to USB cable, but am not sure if it should be Volvo specific or if a generic cable will work ok.

Are there any that will work better than others? Also any to avoid?

Are you sure that you don't have obdI diagnostic connectors under the hood?Strange...then it must be '96.You can check that from VIN numbers.

About diagnostic cable....VAG COM KKL cable will work like a champ with Vol-fcr software if you get a proper drivers for usb conversion,because Vol-fcr is designed to work ONLY with serial to obdII cable.Once you install drivers properly everything will work except access to engine ecu.
Why?....Because Vol-fcr is designed to comunicate ONLY with Motronic 4.4 ecu(late '96 and all '97 n/a models),and since your car is '95 it will not work because you would have Jetronic or Motronic 4.3 engine menagement.
