I parked my '95 850 wagon at about 2am last night and when I go to start it now, I get nothing. My first thought was that I had left a light on and run down the battery, but all of lights (interior, exterior, console, etc) and the cd player are working fine. I'm now thinking it might be a starter issue but I really don't know. If anyone has any ideas for things I could try or ways I could figure out what's wrong, it would be greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks
When I try to start my 850, silence. Any tips?
I've experienced something similar.
It turned out that the braided earth cable at the starter had broken, mainly due to corrosin and subsequently burned through because of the high current, which runs through it. Consequently nothing happened when thr key was turned.
It just can't be replaced unless you dismantle the starter, but I managed to connect a battery pole clamp on what was left of the braided cable and from there with a new piece of cable. Repair has lasted since, but has to be regarded as temporary.
