(2001 Volvo S60 2.4T) Acceleration Problems

Post by jamiedustin »

Ive used this site for many repairs to my volvo and have had to finally ask a question as i cannot find an answer on here and am wondering if anyone has had the same problems with their vehicle. My car is the 01 s60 2.4 turbo and has had a problem with accelerating under load for about the past month and has gotten worse over time.I use a program called mitchell to read what the codes on the Snap-on scanner i use. I am getting codes that state problems with:

-Evap Canister Shut-off Valve
-Long term Fuel Trim
-Front heated oxygen sensor (HOS2)

The problems are that when accelerating the car will not shift from one gear to the next which is the point of high RPM's ; it will just do a very large bounce back and fourth 3-4 times before accelerating very rapidly and then doing the same thing when going to the next gear. Also when travelling at speed and the throttle is released or lowered the vehicle does not want to accelerate when pushing the pedal again. I have recently replaced the Throttle body Module as this showed on a recent scan and have had the codes erased and the codes above are the codes remaining when i drive the car for another day. also the front o2 sensor has 0V which i have been told by the garage may be caused by a short circuit or broken o2 sensor.

PLEASE give me any suggestions considering everyone is saying just sell the car..

I would count to 10 very slowly before I sell the car; this could all be due to a bad Engine Management Relay (including the ETM-related symptoms). Could you list the exact DTC codes that you pulled? (Sorry, I've never used Mitchell)
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
Disclaimer: We (very) seldom do that
