I have a small, but irritating problem with my '99 V70. The left side hood latch will not "pop up" the hood when I pull the handle inside the car - I need two persons to open the hood, one to lift the hood while the other one pulls the handle.
Any known reasons or easy fixes? Everything looks ok as far as I can see. A simple adjustment, or is something worn out?

There are many posts here about this very common problem. You should do a search. The thing that finally and for all time fixed mine was to add about a mm of thickness to the rubber pad under the front edge of the hood. The pad compresses and gets hard over time, not providing any upward pressure when the hood release lever is pulled.

I had the same problem and found a post that told me how to adjust it.....
This is what to do - when you get it open look at the hood and you will see a 'squared U' section bracket on each side that drop into a slot in a fitting on each side of the car that has a black cable attached to it. When you pull the lever to open , the cable moves and opens a set of 'jaws' that allow the steel U brackets to be released and the hood can open. These two fittings are attached to the inside of the engine bay by (two in my case, or sometimes 3) setscrews. Get a spanner and back the screws off on the side that won't open and pull the fitting towards the outside of the car and it should move a little bit; maybe 3/16". Then lock the screws up and try it. It sounds a bit complicated the way I'm describing it but it's really simple and easy to see when you look. As far as I could find out that's the only adjustment.
