Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

99 s80 no power

Post by driver1234567890 »

I have a 1999 s80 t6, and it has no power on the highway and going up hills. I changed the fuel filter and it ran great for about 5 miles, then it went to no power again. so I changed it again and the same thing happened, it ran great for about 5 miles. I checked the fuel pressure and its great. Any suggestions.

Lack of power could be many different things.
Any codes or other symptoms?
Noises. smells, sounds?

No noises. But every time I use a new filter it runs fine for about 5 miles could the fuel filter keep clogging. I bought bad gas and ever since then

How do you define bad gas?
When you change out the filter, do you try blowing thru the filter to see if it is plugged? i.e. with your mouth but careful not to ingest any gas... I imagine compressed air would have to much pressure i.e. would overcome any 'plugging' so would not be 'fair' test?

I did blow the filter in reverse. but I just added a full tank of gas and it seems to be running 90% better. Just loss of power on extreme peddle acceleration. I think all it was, was bad gas. And i ment bad gas because i bought gas from the rundown gas station because it was cheap. not doing that anymore.

I actually meant to try blowing in the direction of the flow to see if there was any resistance possibly caused by the filter media being plugged with dirt/debris. Glad to hear it seems to have been solved with fresh gas.
