Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Post by LeadFarmer »

Volvo dealer sias I had a combination of erors and they would have to fix one before they could see if it fixed others. Claimed I need new Cat converter as well as O2 sensors.

Had a coupon for an oil change and free diagnostic at GM dealer..and they gave me these codes..cleared them out..and they haven't been back since (1 week 200-300 miles)?

any advice?

thanks in advance.

How many miles are on your vehicle? The catalytic converter is probably the last thing you want to replace. Those things are supposed to last for quite some time. Throw your money at less expensive solutions first, not at the cat. It could be vacuum leaks, dirty or defective MAF sensor, or the oxygen sensors. Avoid having repairs done at the dealer to save money. Find an independent mechanic that is familiar w/ Volvos. Also, try searching this forum for the codes you've identified.

thanks a bunch..if I was to check everything..and fuel pressure is something to check..how do you do that? Do you need a special pressure gage?

Where is the 'heated Oxygen sensor'? and how is it different from the other oxygen sensors?

I had a long term fuel trim high once on our 2000 Chevy astro. I cured it my using some STP fuel injector cleaner. For the Astro, it turns out that they have 'spider legs' running from the injectors to the inlet ports. The end of the legs have a spring seated ball. When the ball got gummed up, it would not seat properly and fuel leaked from the leg even when the injector was not opening. Possibly you have an injector with debris preventing it from closing properly. Took two cans of injector cleaner in two tanks of gas and my problem went away. Simple inexpensive cure if that is the problem.
